My mom and I met with my reconstructive surgeon yesterday. I am scheduled for the first of three steps on April 30. During this surgery, I will have a procedure called a latissimus dorsi flap. They will also insert my tissue expanders at this time. I will be in the hospital for 2 days. The recovery time is 3-6 weeks. She said I will likely have a more difficult recovery than I did with the mastectomy. Hard to believe, huh? You can hit this link for more info on the procedure: http://www.breastreconstruction.ca/living_latflap.htm
The second step will involve swapping the expanders for the permanent implants. Hopefully this will take place in early August prior to the start of the new school year. The last step is the additon of the nipple. i can opt for a "pinched" nipple with a tatooed areola OR I can just do a 3-D tatooed nipple AND aerola. Decisons....decisions!!
My next scan and blood work up is in February. Looking forward to more good news!!

Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year everyone!!
WOOHOO...so glad 2011 is over! What a crappy year for my family...3 cancer diagnoses in one family is just too much!! We are on track for a healthier 2012! I am thankful everyday to wake up and spend another day on this beautiful earth with my family and friends.
Wishing all of you a (late) Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year!!
